Family physician since 2000. From 2010 working as coordinating physician for a large governmental refugee centre (Fedasil), coordinating medical and psychosocial services and care there.

Ghent University research and teaching assistant since 2001. PhD in 2012: "Linguistic and cultural diversity in the consultation room  : a tango between physicians and their ethnic minority patients."

Post-doctoral researcher at Ghent University, department of Family Medicine and Primary Health Care. Coordinating "Diversity in health(care)" teaching modules at Ghent University medical faculty, together with colleague Sara Willems.
