Abstract

What does it mean to be a researcher in the Humanities? This is a crucial question not just for your (professional) future, but for society at large. After all, most of you will eventually pursue a life outside of academia. Answering this question is all the more important since the Humanities seem to lack the kind of self-explanatory value that is associated with laboratory research, computer science, engineering or mathematical analysis. Similarly, most degrees obtained at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy do not lead to straightforward career choices.  So, what can you do to make it count?

Topic and objectives

The aim of this workshop is to discuss the unique strengths of Humanities PhDs and find ways to make those qualities work for them in a non-academic setting.

Format

This workshop is conceived as an informal and collaborative space to critically engage with career management and research valorization.
