(05-12-2022) The Ghent University subject 'Migration and Society: an Interdisciplinary Introduction' has won the second prize at the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Awards 2022.
The course Migration and Society: an Interdisciplinary Introduction is an initiative of Professor Ilse Derluyn, Professor Sorana Toma, Professor Robin Vandevoordt and Dr. Floor Verhaeghe. The award was presented at the recent Teaching and Learning Conference in Göttingen. It is an award for subjects that implement international innovative pedagogical approaches related to the educational goals of ENLIGHT.
The first prize was won by the course Innovation Game: A Summer School Applying Serious Game Design in Health Care and Education by Professor Erik Olsson (Uppsala University), in which Ghent University researcher Femke De Backere also participated.
The third prize went to the course The End of the World As We Know It? Climate Change, End Times and Sustainable Futures by Professor Erin Wilson (Groningen University).
The jury spoke highly of the course 'Migration and Society: an Interdisciplinary Introduction': "It is great that this course is taught by a multidisciplinary group of educators, that offer different perspectives on topics of high societal relevance. This multidisciplinarity is strengthened by the teamwork of students from different disciplines throughout the course. Furthermore, the set up and seminar plan of the course is very well thought through and naturally connect general theoretical introductions with valuable cross-disciplinary exchange."
