COVID-19: Possibility of regaining credits of your learning account

The Flemish Government previously decided that the learning account could be reclaimed due to a COVID-19-related force majeure for the academic years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Also for 2021-2022 the Flemish Government has decided now that the learning account could be reclaimed due to a COVID-19-related force majeure.

Conditions:

  • The student did not pass after participating in the last examination opportunity (this means that the student must have participated in the resit examination of the course unit, unless it concerns a course unit for which only one examination is offered).
  • The student declares that he/she was in a situation of COVID-19-related force majeure.
  • The student must submit the application to the competent service of the Flemish Government, within thirty calendar days after the examination results of the August/September session have been announced.

If you have changed your study programme, you obviously cannot take the re-examination for the course units in your previous study programme. However, you can also reclaim the learning account for those course units if you meet the following conditions:

  • The student has changed study programmes or institution before 15 March 2021.
  • The student participated in the first examination opportunity for the course unit he/she has stopped.
  • The student declares that he/she was in a situation of COVID-19-related force majeure.
  • The student must submit the application to the competent service of the Flemish Government, within thirty calendar days after the examination results of the August/September session have been announced.

The above means that you can only submit your application for a refund of the learning account once the results of the re-examinations for all course units have been announced. It is therefore not possible to submit an application at this time. As soon as the application form is made available on the web page of the Flemish government (in Dutch) at the end of August 2022, it will be announced here.
