At the invitation of Their Majesties the King and Queen, His Excellency Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria and Mrs. Doris Schmidauer will pay a state visit to Belgium from March the 21st until the 23th.

In this context, the Federal President and his wife visited VEG-i-TEC, the living lab for vegetable and potato processing companies and their suppliers (machine builders, water and sensor technology suppliers) who want to innovate and optimize their production processes.

Processes that have been developed at lab level (by both companies and research groups) are scaled up to a level that is representative for the vegetable and potato processing industry. From individual processes to the entire process line for vegetable and potato processing: everything can be simulated at pilot level.

The Federal President and his wife were very enthusiastic about the research activities and the close cooperation with the companies. After the tour, the president signed the university's golden book.
